We’re just north of four months from seeing the immortal blueish text of “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” for the ninth time on the big screen. Unlike last year’s offering, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi will continue to follow the adventures of Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren. The looks that we’ve had so far in the form of a teaser and behind-the-scenes teaser have ben incredibly promising, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
If you’ve been craving more details on the film, then brace yourselves, because we’ll soon be getting a whole lot of them, thanks to Entertainment Weekly’s upcoming issue, which is set to feature all kinds of photos and details. The outlet has given us a taste of what’s to come by revealing two two variant covers for the August 18 issue.
That wasn’t all they had to share. They also went on to reveal nine images. In them, we get to see new looks at Rey, Kylo Ren, Poe, and Finn (who is rocking it in a vehicle of some sort). We also have our first glimpse of the oft-rumored Canto Bight — a casino planet. It looks an awful lot like something from Coruscant, so for the time being, you can color me unimpressed (though it's not like the look of a place needs to impress in order to be good). Finally, we have a couple behind the scenes images of director Rian Johnson, the second of which features him directing the late Carrie Fisher.
You’ll want to stay tuned this week, as the coming days will undoubtedly reveal many more details regarding The Last Jedi. Of the stories to be covered, EW teases more on Luke Skywalker’s regrets, Finn actually becoming a “big deal” in the Resistance, and details regarding Fisher’s final appearance as the iconic Leia Organa.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
